How do we move adolescent learners from passive readers to powerful thinkers? This one-day summit is dedicated to the unique art of secondary literacy. We will explore the "staircase of complexity" within the Ohio 6–8 ELA standards and share high-leverage strategies that foster student independence. The morning features choice-based breakout sessions led by literacy experts, while the afternoon transitions into an "Intervention & Support Lab." Participants will have the opportunity to consult directly with educational partners to explore evidence-based programs designed specifically for the unique cognitive and social needs of older readers who require support beyond foundational phonics.
