This 6 part series will allow the participants to discuss with colleagues and therapeutic staff
typical classroom behaviors and how to intervene using trauma informed strategies. The series
will begin with an overview of trauma informed care. Subsequent sessions will begin with a
video of some of the behaviors teachers deal with on a daily basis. Each session will be
facilitated by a least 2 therapeutic staff from various agencies who will then lead a discussion on
appropriate interventions. It is not necessary to attend all sessions in the series however; the first
session will lay the foundation for those that follow. Teachers are encouraged to share what has
worked in their classrooms as well. Sessions will be recorded and placed on the ESCWR
website as a resource.

Session 6: The Power Struggle Predicament
Power positions can be taken by anyone in the classroom. Whether intended or or not, they can easily escalate into a power struggle that has a predictable lose-lose outcome. This session will discuss trauma -informed responses that can help avoid or manage such conflicts.
