Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification and Supervision Program

Strengthen Your Support Services with Our Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification and Supervision Program

Looking to enhance your district’s capacity to support students with behavioral and/or developmental needs? The ESC of the Western Reserve (ESCWR) offers a comprehensive Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification and Supervision Program designed to equip your staff with the skills and credentials necessary to deliver high-quality, behavior-analytic services.

What is a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)?

An RBT is a trained professional in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) who:

  • Completes 40 hours of ABA training and passes a national exam

  • Promotes positive behavior interventions in the classroom

  • Assists with teaching replacement behaviors to reduce challenging behaviors

  • Collects data to monitor student progress

  • Works with the student’s intervention team to adjust strategies as needed

  • Operates under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Why Invest in RBT Certification for Your Staff?

RBTs are essential in supporting students with autism, ADHD, anxiety, intellectual disabilities, and other behavioral challenges. With proper training and certification, your paraprofessionals can work under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to implement effective intervention plans and positively impact student outcomes.

Benefits to Districts

  • Collaboration: RBTs work alongside teachers, OTs, SLPs, PTs, and BCBAs to maintain consistent interventions

  • Daily Interaction: Supports students throughout the school day

  • Data Collection: Helps track student IEP goals and behavior plans

  • Classroom Support: Provides guidance to promote positive behaviors
